Prof. Dr. İbrahim Etem Geçim, TED Ankara College; General Surgeon Specialization at Hacettepe UK Liverpool University and Ankara Faculty of Medicine, Lecturer at Ankara Faculty of Medicine; He was elected as the first Turkish President of the Commission on Diseases of the Large Intestine while he was a specialist in Colorectal Surgery at MAYO Clinic in the USA, Associate Professor in 1999, Professor at Ankara University in 2004, European Coloproctology Specialist certificate in 2004, currently a Committee Member of the European Society of Coloproctology and Delegate of Eastern European Countries EBSO General Surgery and Coloproctology Boart Examination Commissioner, General Secretary of the
National Surgical Association for a period and Board Member of the Rectal Surgery Association.
General Surgeon Specialist Prof. Dr. İbrahim Etem Geçim spoke after being elected as a Specialist of the European Commission on Colon Diseases:
"We Turks are underrepresented, especially among Eastern Europeans. That's why I got here.I've been serving on the board of directors for 7-8 years. As a result, they were awarded the presidency. I will try to do this task very well. This will definitely have effects on our country.
I will try to ensure that it takes part in activities in management, in education. Our important activity is in the congress commissions every year, one of which is to provide scholarships to 15-20 young surgeons in central and western Europe to conduct research.We will host the congress we will hold in 2019.
Now we have made our den connections. The association has an exemplary work for the world. 450 hospitals from 30-40 European countries participated in the latest study. This includes Turkish hospitals. We conduct research that has very serious consequences. I would like to give a message to my young doctor brothers and sisters through you. I was on my own when I came here. Now there are 50 young doctors in this meeting. Promising. The closer we are to Europe, the further we go scientifically. Because they are further ahead of us. But we can come to them and learn what they're doing and strive to do better.
I especially recommend that those in our dam make an effort to take part in this or similar organizations".
At the congress held at the Messe Fair in Berlin, Turkish Prof. Dr. İbrahim Etem Geçim was elected as the president of the European Commission on Diseases of the Large Intestine.
